Gabrielle jean-marie Christopher Purser and Robert S. Mills sold fictitious marine insurance to the owner of Shoreline Cruises of Lake George, NY. When the cruise ship Ethan Allen sank and killed 20 elderly tourists, the company was left with no valid insurance coverage. Purser and Mills pleaded guilty in U.S. Federal Court - Southern District of Texas to federal charges stemming from an investigation by the TDI Fraud Unit, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Purser was sentenced to 188 months in prison. Mills was sentenced to 120 months in prison and was ordered to pay $2.45 million in restitution.
In Dallas County, Sylvia Leyva-Talamantes billed Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 110 health claims for services that were not rendered. She received more than $28,131 in benefits from these false claims. Leyva-Talamantes pleaded guilty to insurance fraud, a second-degree felony. She received 120 months deferred adjudication and was

Both Christopher and robert were caught abusing the laws and the codes of ethics granted They were sentenced but the idea of having someone sentenced for committing such crime killing 20 people and being given a sentence of 10 to 15 years is nowhere being equivalent to the kind of punishment necessary to cover such a crime. Ladies and gentleman, the rules are put into place for those reasons and those reasons only, to protect the rights of every one; should I say every involved parties. Of course the retribution of 2.45 million dollars was requested to be pay but thinking about it let's just typically they would divide 2.45 million dollars into 20 all of a sudden 2.45 million dollars don't seem so much now does it? how do you explain to a family member or even to a mother that their child is gone and never coming back and all you have to offer for it is a few hundred thousand dollars what exactly is it that this money supposed to
