Tableau Project: Eve

For our tableau project, my group chose Eve. Anderson was Adam, Gaby was the Angel Gabriel, Carrie was Mary, and I was Eve. We represented the story of Adam and Eve by showing Eve handing Adam an apple which represents the forbidden fruit. As they both (Anderson and I) take a bite of the apple, a look of shock and guilt crosses their faces like they heard God’s disappointment. Since I was Eve in our tableau, I had to think of what Eve was feeling and thinking before, during, and after she disobeyed God for my monologue. I thought that Eve was feeling at the time and why she purposely disobeyed God. We thought that Eve was jealous of God and all of his power and that after a long time of relying on God, Eve wanted to be independent from God. When the serpent told her that if she ate the forbidden fruit she would have God’s power she thought that she and Adam wouldn’t need God anymore. They wouldn’t need to rely on him. God let them live in the Garden of Eden freely as long as they didn’t eat the forbidden fruit. The serpent tempted Eve to eat the fruit so she and Adam disobeyed God and ate it. When God found out, he sent them out of the Garden of Eden and punished them. Eve is an example of disobedience. She didn’t listen to God even though what God was telling her was to keep her and Adam free of sin. Eve is also an example of God’s mercy and forgiveness towards us. Even though Adam and Eve completely disobeyed God’s one rule, he still showed mercy by giving them a saviour that would save them from their sin. She also shows how even things that God first created are not perfect. Adam and Eve were the first humans created and they both sinned greatly. It tells me that everything God made is not meant to be perfect, sinless, and flawless. Everything God has made is not perfect, has sins, and has
