Tangle Blue Lake is located in Trinity County and is found in the Trinity Alps Wilderness Forest. Tangle Blue Lake resides in the Klamath Moutains physiographic region and is a natural feature due to the bodies of water, mountains, hills, trees, meadows, etc. that define Tangle Blue Lake. Tangle Blue Lake is nicely tucked into a striking basin in the northeastern corner of the Trinity Alps. In order to get to this beautiful lake that offers swaths of lush meadows, a rollicking creek and tall granite peaks that soar overhead, you must hike in 4 miles on the trail. The trail is an easy to moderate hike, but tiring at points, due to steep inclines. With that being said, it would be wise to pack as light as possible. What you pack is what you have to carry in and carry back out. Once you arrive at your Tangle Blue Lake destination there is plenty to explore. If you feel like hiking there are 7 different lakes and head trails to check out around Tangle Blue Lake that is within a 2-mile radius. The 7 lakes to explore are; Little Marshy Lake, Big Marshy Lake, Log Lake, Big Bear Lake, Mosquito Lake, Upper Boulder Lake and Little Bear Lake. There is honestly too much to list about this place! The best time to visit Tangle Blue Lake is during the Summer with average tempatures in the 80's, and Fall with average tempatures in the low 70's. The weather is very nice during the summer time and if you get hot, you can always go for a swim. During the Fall time, the weather can become a little chilly, especially being next to the lake.
