Most people think that all dance is very similar but they are dead wrong. When thinking about dance there are many different types to look at such as: Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Musical. They are just a few of the different types of dances that may or may not be covered in a regular dance studio. Although it is very common to be confused at which one is which if you don’t look close enough at them, but if you look you will see few similarities. Though today I would like to point out the differentness in two different categories: Tap, and Jazz. When looking at Tap and Jazz you find that there are three main differences in the two; these are: the shoe, the technique, and the points that you are scored on.

First I think that it would be better to cover the easier of the two first so when talking about Jazz you must think about the shoes that you would need first. A little redundant but you would need Jazz shoes. The have a to rubber pads on the ball of your foot and one on the heel. The heel is slightly larger than the pad on the ball of your foot. This is because you have to be on the ball of your foot for most of your dance unless you are instructed by your choreographer to do differently.

They will be normally be tan or black leather and if you are a girl you may be given a larger heel than the normal tap shoe if the costume calls for it.
