NEW MARKETING OPPORTUNITY
Dell considers the environment at every stage of the product lifecycle starting with how a product is designed. Instead of one eco-friendly product, they consider the following when designing all of the products.
Environmental responsibility is about more than creating an eco-friendly product or initiative. It’s about incorporating sustainability into every aspect of what we do, using our technology and expertise to innovate on behalf of the customers, the communities and the planet.
Dell recycling goes further
Dell is a global industry leader in recycling. In 2006, Dell became the first technology company to offer free recycling of its products to consumers anywhere in the world- with no exceptions.
Dell Reconnect: Donate any brand of computer to Goodwill
Technology is improving every day. Today’s computers are quickly leaving yesterday’s systems in the past or in your closet, basement or attic.
Dell has made it easy for you to recycle your used computer equipment through Dell Reconnect, a partnership with Goodwill Industries. Simply take your old computer equipment of any brand, working or not, to one of Goodwill’s over 2,000 participating locations in the United States or Canada, and we’ll make sure your system and accessories are refurbished or recycled responsibly. They even accept Microsoft® Xbox 360®, Zune® systems and accessories.
Impacting the environment and creating jobs
Since 2004, they’ve kept over 250 million pounds of e-waste out of landfills. That’s the equivalent of over 43 million Inspiron laptops — one for every person in the state of California.
Some systems in working condition are refurbished and resold through Goodwill, creating green jobs to further support Goodwill's mission of helping people with disabilities and disadvantages by providing education, training and career services. In addition, this program allows Goodwill customers to purchase modern technology at an affordable cost.
Whatever parts cannot be reused or refurbished will be broken down securely and recycled responsibly, meeting Dell's extensive and strict Electronic Disposition Policy. They ensure that no environmentally sensitive materials will be sent to landfills and no items will be exported to developing countries.
