You might be surprised to know that according to the Washington Times the top 20 percent of income earners in America bring in a household income of just over $100,000. While the top 10% of have an income of more than $140,000. To be considered in the top 1% of household income is at least $520,000.

According to Washington and NY Times, the top 10% of income earners pay 68 percent of all federal income taxes, though they earned 45% of all income. The bottom 50% paid 3% of income taxes, but earned 12% in household income.
