Every school has more than one way to protect its students against possible threats. For example, police officers make sure that no unauthorized figure enters the school, and the cameras are the eyes of the adults to see if anybody has snuck in drugs or weapons. Unfortunately, the cameras might become hacked to change or erase footage, people can break into the school during the night to hide drugs or weapons and the on campus police officers could get shot. We have seen on TV and in newspapers that locking the door and keeping the lights turned off have not been enough to protect the teacher and students in a classroom safe. If there is a restriction on the known location of the hidden gun, and the teacher takes many tests to determine if they have the mental capability to have a weapon in the room, the teachers should get to carry guns in school. …show more content…
The teacher can just tell the principal where he or she is keeping the gun, who has his or her own key to each classroom. According to someone at debate.org in the opinion page, “The kids wouldn't know who had the keys to the gun or where they were anyways…”. Another person from debate.org said, “I think that the gun should be locked into a indastructable box that is only able to be unlocked in an intruder emergency”. This way, the teacher can unlock where the gun is being kept and be ready to protect the students without having to worry about the students being able to reach the weapon. Moreover, each teacher should take the weapon home at the end of the school day, so that if someone breaks into the school, they don’t find the gun.
