Overdosing on Technology?
Everyone has seen the moody, withdrawn kid with music blasting out of his or her white earphones, or the girl rapidly texting on her phone. The teens of today are constantly mesmerized in technological advancements that contribute to nonstop communication and instant amusement, whether it’s through cell phones, gaming systems, laptops, or IPods. But are these technological advancements a good thing? The growth of technology has negatively influenced the social interactions of today's teens because it disengages people from reality and hinders communication
Technology has a negative influence on society because it separates people from reality. IPhone’s, Blackberries, and laptops are becoming an important part of every individual’s daily lives. Society is so dependent on these devices that sometimes we treat them as if it is part of the family. Many people are so closely involved with their electronic devices they forget how important it is to interact with another human being instead of communication through a cell phone. Technology is such an important necessity that some people are more likely to choose their electronic device over many things.
Although technology is creating an unintelligent generation it still has positive effects on society. Technology has made everyday routines simpler; for example humans no longer have to physically do daily household chores, such as vacuuming. Also technology has helped society discovered new was to treat or even cure diseases and illness. Finally, technology has made transportation a much simpler way for individuals to get from one place to another. Society has gone from horse drawn carriages to jet planes.
