Over the years technology has increased and different areas in our everyday life. Everything has essential evolved over time becoming more advanced as time continues. Technology has involved in many ways to make us safer. Cameras at traffic intersections are helpful to monitor traffic laws and issue violations. These cameras are beneficial in three different ways. They catch repeat offenders, detour violations, and allow police to focus on more violent crimes. State laws have allowed for police departments to monitor and place traffic cameras all over different parts of major cities around the U.S. Placing cameras at intersections are especially good for catching repeat offenders. These repeat offenders often run red lights or speed through intersections. With the thought process if I can get away with it once I can get away with it again. Placing cameras at intersections allows repeat offenders to be ticketed and also it takes away points on their driving record. Too many points can cause someone to lose their driving privileges after repeat offenses. Also, a hefty fine comes along with running red lights or speeding through intersections somewhere in the range of $100. Issuing fines and revoking driving privileges on motorist would essentially make driving more safer for pedestrians and other motorist. The overall intent of traffic cameras is safety and to detour individuals’ from making vehicle infractions. Most intersections that are currently monitored by traffic cameras have a traffic sign notifying motorist that the area is monitored by traffic cameras. This sign alone can detour people from running red lights and increasing speed in an attempt to beat a yellow light. Busy intersections account for the majority of traffic accidents and loss of life. Majority of motorist either speed through these intersections or flat out run red lights. The reasons range from being late to work during rush hour , or they just did not want to wait for the red light. Essentially having camera’s posted at intersections are a impressive set of second eyes when that area cannot be patrolled by an actual police officer. The deterrence of having a camera’s works better than not having one. Vehicle operators will begin to take notice of the traffic camera’s and posted signs on their day to day commute. Also, the flash that the cameras produces in itself is enough to detour people from breaking the law. Witnessing the flash produced in response to someone running a red light tends to be hugely intimidating to other drivers. This by itself makes drivers more aware of their surroundings when traveling through an intersection with cameras posted. Deterrence is the biggest issue of keeping individuals from plowing through lights overall increasing safety for everyone to commute without incident. These cameras most vital asset is not only deterrence , but coverage as well to allow police to focus on more serious criminal infractions. In an ever changing economy state and federal police officers are at an all-time low. Most states have cut back on police officers to balance budgets and focus money on other areas that need attention. Just because, police offers have taken a hit does not mean that criminals will slow down. This is the complete opposite police officers have to provide safety to city’s with less to work with including infrastructure and people. Having traffic cameras at intersections not only frees up police officers but it also frees up time as well. The amount of time it takes a police officer to initiate a traffic stop, check for warrants, and issue a ticket is around 15 to 20 minutes. This time is cut by 95% when a traffic camera’s snaps a picture of a violator at an intersection. The photo is saved on a database and reviewed by an officer, who processes the completed ticket along with the copy of the infraction which is mailed to the violator. In conclusion, technology saves lives. Having a traffic camera at an…

To think in today's society more people fear our law enforcement, police force, and any other governmental authority more than burglars, traffic offenders, and drug dealers is preposterous, but in many instances, this is the truth . speed cameras use radar technology to measure how fast a vehicle is traveling. If a motorist is driving above the speed limit for that road then several photo are then taken of the vehicle. The Gatso uses a powerful flash to show the rear of the vehicle, its registration plate, and calibration lines on the road. Gatso speed cameras are always rear facing. The reason for this is that the speed cameras 'flash' will not blind oncoming motorists. However, this also means that the speed camera may not…
