The name Unabomber comes from UNiversity Airline BOmbing. University and airlines were targets for Ted Kaczynski who was the infamous unabomber. Chicago university was the first target on his list and he would hand make the bombs and he would either hand deliver the bombs or he would have them delivered. Kaczynski attended Harvard University and was known as a mathematics prodigy. Kaczynski taught at the University of California before retreating to the woods of Montana. Kaczynski and his brother built a perfect mathematical house that he lived in which was 10’x 14’ and he lived there making bombs and writing his manifestos. On April 3, 1996, examiners arrested Kaczynski and searched his cabin. They found a plenitude of bomb components about 40,000 scripted journal pages that included bomb-making experiments and reports of Unabomber crimes; and one live bomb, ready for mailing. …show more content…
His attorneys plead not guilty by reason of insanity and get an agreement to send Ted to a mental facility to get help for the rest of his life but Kaczynski believed that he wasn’t mentally ill and he was well aware about what he was doing. Ted Kaczynski was diagnosed at a young age with schizophrenia. As a graduate student, he looked for treatment for symptoms of depression, anxiety, and sexual identity confusion.
