Teddy Roosevelt served as New York City’s Police Commissioner, the 26th president of the United States, and served as the Assistant Secretary of the Navy. His leadership qualities and accomplishments have influenced my decision to pursue a career and lifetime in diplomacy, intelligence and defense. I have always had an interest in this career path and after learning more about Teddy Roosevelt, my interest in these areas increased. My biggest dream is to join the U.S. Navy and serve our country, much like how Teddy Roosevelt served the citizens New York City and later the people of the United States. Another remarkable leadership position that Teddy Roosevelt held was the Assistant Secretary of the Navy. I would consider it an honor to serve for the United States because of the hard work from men and women all over who serve and too often lose their lives fighting for what they believe in. Too often, reports of Americans being killed are made a reality and this has also influenced me to decide to pursue a career in these areas. As I have learned more about Teddy Roosevelt, I have also come to realize the importance of diplomacy and how without it, many things would be different. I also admire how Teddy Roosevelt dedicated the majority of his life to the well-being of others and his country. There are many things to learn about the United States, and by going through this career path, I could learn about them. In terms of intelligence, Roosevelt used intelligence operatives to spark a revolution in Panama and to support military operations. Additionally, Roosevelt’s actions as president have made me look up to him as a leader and want to go down a similar, but different, career
