Do you ever wonder why teens make the decisions they make or why they are so easily persuaded? In the article, Teenage Brains are Malleable and Vulnerable, Researchers say, written by John Hamilton in 2012 it talks about why teenagers make fast decisions and different ways that people believe teen brains work. The central idea in this article is to inform the reader that the teenage brain is sensitive to rewards, which can lead to better decision making. First, this is proven by some of the test done on teens and adults that show us how the teenage brain is sensitive to rewards. For example, “When a lot of points were at stake, teens actually spent more time studying the dots than adults and brain scans showed more activity in brain regions involved in making decisions.” This proves that because there was a reward or points at risk the teens took time to think about the situation.
