When a person hits their head, the areas of the brain most likely to be damaged are the frontal lobe and temporal lobe. The first reason why they are more likely to be damaged is because the frontal and temporal lobes are against rigid and rough bone. When someone hits their head, the brain moves inside the skull, these two lobes are rubbing against rough bone, which results in damage. The second reason why the frontal and temporal lobes are most likely to be damaged is because these lobes are in the front of the head, which tends to move more than other areas of the brain. Sometimes when people hit their head they suffer from a coup-contrcoup injury. This is when an impact causes their head to suddenly stop, and the brain slams into the skull. An example of this is when someone falls on his or her back on the floor. Although the head stops once it hits the floor, the brain keeps moving; the brain bounces back and forth inside the skull, so both sides of the brain are damaged. …show more content…
It is also responsible for personality features. If the frontal lobe were to be injured, people would have difficulty talking, planning, and thinking. In addition to this, someone’s personality after they hit their head could be different than their personality before their accident. This is proven to be true because many people believe they are not the same person after their brain was damaged; close friends and family also agree that the person who had injured their head seem different after their accident. The temporal lobe is associated with memory and language functions. It is also responsible for speech, sound, and comprehension. If the temporal lobe were to be damaged, it would be harder for a person to hear, speak, and understand depending on what area of the temporal lobe were
