1. So much tension lies between the Montague and Capulet families because of the ongoing hatred and numerous quarrels that constantly break out. For example, within the first few pages of the novel, a fight had already broken out over nothing in particular besides their pre-existing hate. Also an example of tension lies in Romeo's moody behavior. He is upset because of the rejection he had to endure from the girl he loved. At this point, Romeo is lost, confused, and unsure of what to do with himself.
2. In scene 1, Romeo describes Rosaline, the girl he loves, in an over exaggerated poetic way. He explains how Rosaline does not love him in return through the use of oxymora such as “brawling love” and “loving hate.” His tone also expresses how much he loves her because it is so passionate, loving, and, disappointed at the heartbreaking rejection. With the use of literary elements brought together in the text, including the examples stated previously, the audience is shown the turmoil of love and the effect it can have on an individual.
3. In this novel, the nurse is the character that brings an element of comedy to the text, while frequently making inappropriate or vulgar remarks. However, the Nurse is like a mother to Juliet because she has cared for her all her life and offers useful advice in many

Though Mercutio is a rather witty character and a good compliment to Romeo, I think he could be a better friend to Romeo than he is because he often mocks Romeo's feelings of love. Mercutio allows the novel to have more emotional aspects besides love, at least sometimes, however, I feel like Romeo needs him to be more than just a “humorous” friend. I would not mind having Mercutio as a friend because I appreciate humor and people who attempt to laugh and be happy in any upsetting situation.
