Features of the current Texas constitution
The main features of this constitution are the preamble and 16 articles therein.
The preamble acknowledges God’s blessings and goes ahead and states that the constitution was established and ordained by the people of Texas.

The current constitution having been amended 467 times as of 2011, has many levels of policy details to protect private interests and avoid abuse of power by organizations of the government.

Similarities of the Texas constitution and the U.S. constitution
The United States constitution and the Texas constitution have several similarities as outlined below;

The Judicial Branch
The federal judiciary has only three court levels. These levels are; district courts, appeal courts, and the Supreme Court. It is therefore simple and orderly as the Supreme Court has the final word on all constitutional and statutory matters. Judges are appointed and Supreme Court justices are given a lifetime appointment. The Texas constitution outlines six court types with some having overlapping jurisdictions therefore becoming very confusing. There are two established high courts that deal with different jurisdictions.one deals with civil cases while the other criminal cases.
Constitution amendment process
