During the thanksgiving break of my seventh grade year, I first skied in my life as I stayed with a day student at Rumsey and his family decided to take me skiing for a day and I fell in love with the sport. In my eighth grade year I skied about 90 days with Rumsey’s recreational program. By the next year I became extremely confident with my skiing as I joined the ski team in 9th grade. I chatted with my coach and expected him to put me on varstiy automatically. However, he decided to put me on JV and made me stay at home for the first race of the season. That dissapointed me and I couldn’t wait to prove myself. But during my first race of the season, instead of proving myself and moving up to varsity, I was awarded with a DNF( Did Not Finish) …show more content…
Comparatively, skiing did not require as much. You had to get onto the lift, and let gravity take you down, which is why I loved skiing. As I got to the competitive part of skiing though, I began to realize that skiing required just as much from me if not more. The nervousness I experience at the starting gate and the split-second choices I have to make as I moved through the course at a very fast speed. But I grew up from that 7th grader who gave up on wrestling. I did not remain loyal at all to wrestling, but I decided that I will keep skiing even if I can’t win all the time. I think in situations like this, disloyalty is warranted as I can just tell everyone that you want to try a new sport and experience different things. On the other hand, I believe by being loyal to a sport, you can really experience and get the fun out of it only after pain. You certainly can’t expect to win when others train more than you and sweat more than you. Even if I couldn’t finish the course all the time, never think about becoming disloyal and trying a new sport. Get up to fall again, fall again and again to eventually
