one of the main reasons i chose this picture of a scene from the 1939 film stagecoach is because it very roughly depicts what many of these stagecoaches dealt with on a day to day basis. The wagon was a very effective mode of transportation, even past the great railroad construction that took place 1830+; that being said there was was unfortunately multiple downsides to this way of travel, one of them was being a valued target.

Many of these stagecoaches were actually used to transport goods like cloth, wheat, and tools; to more diverse and inexpensive items like jewelry, firearms, and gold.
