The Addams Family is a very malleable production. Its debut was in the mid 1960’s as a TV show. Since then it has been remade into several different movies, and even into plays and musicals. On October 21st, The Cumberland County Playhouse put on a beautiful production of the Addams Family Musical. This well thought out musical was written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, and directed by Bryce McDonald. The music numbers and dancing gave a very flavorful twist to the “creepy and kooky” family. There are multiple aspects of the play that stand out in their own right. Every character’s costume and makeup was very well put together. One individual that stood out to me was the character Lurch. The makeup and wardrobe team made very good use of outlining his face and almost flattening his hair. Every part of the production attracts its deserved attention, there are two aspects that really stand out. The acting and the choreography by far shine in their own way.
There are several main characters in the musical, and everyone of their actors came to play. The overall acting of the play was extraordinary. Gomez and Morticia Addams were played by, Jason Ross and Audrey Moore. Jason and Audrey nailed their parts beautifully. Jason’s witty humor as

There were multiple music numbers that had nearly the entire cast out on stage dancing. The choreographer, Jaclyn Juola, did a fantastic job of utilizing the thrust style stage and the limited amount of room that it offered. There were dance numbers that took up the whole stage and some that took up just a fraction of it. There was one scene towards the end of the musical with Gomez and Morticia. It started with them being in an argument and lead to them dancing a tango. There was some funny parts about there tango and there was some jokingly sexual tension. Taking all of this into account, the choreography of the dance was very well put
