The Age of Enlightenment is an era between 1650s to the 1780s in which cultural and intellectual idea in Western Europe emphasized reason, analysis, equality and individualism rather than traditional lines of authority that has concerned Western Europe for a long period of time. Thomas Jefferson wrote in this period a book called Notes on the State of Virginia, in his book he focuses allot on slavery. He writes that slavery should be emancipated, that every slave born after this act is “free”. He who is born after the act while live with his parents to certain age, then be brought up by the public expenses.
