There are several different organizations and communities that have come together to fight for the equal rights and freedoms of those with disabilities. They have advocated for the disabled and their families as a way to gain support. The Arc is an organization that focuses on protecting the rights of those with disabilities, both mental and physical. This organization was started in Washington, DC in 1950, and the organization continues to spread to other states all of America. The Arc is an organization that, with the help of the government, is able to provide those with physical and mental disabilities and their families the help that they need. The value of equity focuses on the law of equality, giving those with disabilities security and respect in all that they do. The next value is community. The Arc believes that the physically and mentally disabled still belong to a community, and should have the right to participate in society. Self-determination ensures that those with disabilities are able to have self-determination so that they are able to do things on their own. Diversity is the next core value, which says that they are willing to help people of all ages, gender, and race. Guiding principles participatory democracy acts to give the families of the person with a disability equal opportunities and help. Next is visionary leadership, which ensures that the organization receives both public and private support for their future actions. Public interest represents the support needed from public and outside sources. Collaboration connects other companies and organizations to those with disabled giving them the best support and help. The finale core value is transparency, integrity, and excellence. This value ensures that through this organization the disabled population will receive quality care and help. I think that The Arc provides several different types of help to the disabled, and their families. This specific organization was founded about sixty years ago, and has gained a lot of support since the beginning. The Arc continues to receive help from the government and other individuals in the community. Their mission statement and core values show that their main goal is to provide equal care and support for these individuals, in a way that empowers them and gives them equal rights and freedoms. I believe that this organization has been very effective, and has helped several individuals receive the care and support they deserve. In order for this organization to successfully help even more people I think they should continue to advocate and inform the society about their organization. I have never heard of this organization; a way they could do this is by hosting more events in different parts of the United States. This would allow them to gain support from different populations, and they could continue to share their mission. The Arc originates in Washington, DC, however, they have evens in California and Montana and companies in several other states as well. Hosting these events would be a large task, however, it would allow them to gain support from more people. The next change I would
