The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. Zusak was born 23 June 1975 in Sydney, Australia. The Book Thief is one of his two international best-sellers, it is a novel-historical fiction . His mother (Lisa) comes from Germany and his father (Helmut) comes from Austria. His parents inspired him to write The Book Thief by telling him stories about their time during the war. "special thanks to his parents, Lisa and Helmut Zusak - for the stories we find hard to believe, for laughter, and for showing me another side." A short thanks to Zusak’s parents from one of his books. His book, The Book Thief was first published in 2005. It shows us the story of Liesel Meminger out of Death’s perspective. The book is very interesting to read and death's spoilers throughout the book make it an interesting and fun book to read.

The story starts of with Liesel and her family being on a train where her brother, Werner, dies. Liesel is brought to Molching. Here, she is introduced to her foster-parents on Himmel Street. Slowly Liesel gets used to her new family and surroundings. Her foster-father, Hnas Hubermann teaches her to read. Then a stranger comes to live with Liesel, Hans and Rosa Hubermann. Because Death is cast as a narrator, the book is very unique and incomparable to other books about war. The story of Liesel is very well written. A weaker point in the book is that it doesn't tell us a lot about the holocaust, which does not give a good idea of the horrors of war. But, that is the only bad thing that I can say about it. I would recommend the book to everyone who is interested in war stories. The book attracts teenagers and older people. This is because of the language used in the book, which is not very simple but not very complicated
