The video Memory’s Day and William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer’s Book, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, are similar in many ways like the way they grew up in the same play. About ten seconds in video tell us that Memory lives in khulungira village located in Malawi, which is the same culture WIlliam grew up in. In their culture many people give their children names to fix their circumstances like Tiyamike, which means, “thanks god”. Memory’s name can only be hypothesized to mean in memory of someone. Like the majority of people in Mawai both help out with their family’s crops. William wrote about how “-my holiday break, most of it was filled by helping my father prepare the maize-” (page 62) and Memory said close the same thing when she said, “After school I help my parents. Sometimes my family works in the field.” Memory and William had trouble going to school because of how expenses it was. (page 111 and 0:40 seconds into the video)

The ex veteran is a homeless widower, with a talent that would have gone unnoticed if it hadn’t been for some nice people on youtube. Which is a lot like what happened to Memory, her story was uploaded onto youtube for the world to see and make a change in. In chapter fifteen of the Boy who Harnessed Wind, William does a ted talk with Tom Rielly getting his idea known to others.
