When I found out that the final essay topic was satire, my mind immediately flew towards the idea of satirical horror movies. I had debated between a few films being that I was initially unsure of which one I wanted to focus upon, I thought about: the Scream series, The Haunted House, the Scary Movie series, and finally The Cabin in the Woods. I am not quite sure about the reason for why I chose The Cabin in the Woods above all the other satirical horror films, as in comparison to the others The Cabin in the Woods is definitely a harder film to write about. The only reason that I had for choosing The Cabin in the Woods would be because when I had initially watched the movie back when it was released, I did not notice that it was meant to be a satirical film. When I first started, I had little to no idea where I wanted to take the essay and what the writers of the movie where attempting to change through satirizing the entire cabin in the woods genre. However, after re-watching the movie a few times and reading a couple of articles, I found the direction that I wanted to take my paper. Even so, my drafts still shifted after that as I was unsure what paragraphs I wanted where and how much information about the movie I should actually include. Audience awareness has always been an issue for me, mainly when it is a topic that has not been in the limelight as much as others. However, upon its release, The Cabin in the Woods did receive quite a lot of press and public attention, therefore, I assumed that there was a little bit awareness towards the movie itself. Even so, I did still try to include the necessary points of the movie that would allow for both a new viewer and old viewer to understand the movie if necessary such as the general plotline and character
