In the Cask of Amontillado, Montresor’s abundance of dialogue and action, shows his delusional and hungry heart for revenge. All throughout the story, there were many instances where Montresor thought about plotting revenge against Fortunato, incorporated it in his dialogue, and carried it out.
Montresor’s dialogue and action are closely locked together in his hungry heart. When Montresor was luring Fortunato into the catacombs, he said this. “I had no intention of alarming you unnecessarily- but you should use all proper caution.” Through this dialogue, Montresor probably did not have the heart to alarm Fortunato to use caution. He was just trying to incorporate his thoughts into his dialogue, but in a nice way that would not cause any alarm for his trap, based on his delusional decisions.
