Being bilingual is like a requirement, but sometimes it could be hard. If you are bilingual you can take advantage of almost every job. In my perspective, it was a challenge growing up in a two language household. I was raised very differently when I was growing up. It was hard for me in a two language household but I manage. The challenge of growing up in a two language household was good because it made me who I am.
Going to school was difficult for me since I came from a two language household. Elementary school was very frustrating for me because I did not understand the work. It was the first time I was in an environment that the students did not speak the same language as me. In my household all everyone spoke was Hindi and no English. It was up to me to dominate the language I just started to learn. What helped me get better at English was T.V. and listening to the radio. I used to always sit down after school with my grandparents and watch everything in English. I got better at English with the help of my teachers, who were always there helping me and encouraging me to do better.

I felt that there was a reason for me to force myself to learn English. But that’s not what my mother thought for me, she always said a mantra to me “How much the English language would be so important and fundamental in my life”.
