The Challenges Of Odysseus In Homer's Odyssey

In The Odyssey, Homer elaborates on the different obstacles you face when you are attempting to achieve a goal, or a dream. Odysseus goes on the very dangerous journey back to his homeland, Ithaca. He encounters several monsters and road-blocks that make his journey incredibly difficult. My Ithaca is to travel to all 7 continents, and my mentor, my mom, can hopefully come on some of those journeys with me. Different challenges that Odysseus face, that compare with my life, are the Lotus Eaters, the Sirens, how much information to tell someone, patience, the Test of the Bow, and being a prisoner to Calypso. These all come into play, when Odysseus makes the difficult challenge of getting to his Ithaca.

They often get sidetracked while trying to accomplish important tasks. When I need to do things like cleaning my room, I always tend to get distracted. I find something like a yearbook or a photo album and will spend forever reminiscing and sending photos to friends. Another main lotus flower to me, is Netflix. I can probably spend days at a time just sitting in my bed and watching Friends, Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother or Grey’s Anatomy. I sometimes spend too much of my time watching these shows and need reminding that there are things more important to do. One Lotus Flower to me, is vacations. Like the Lotus Flowers, it can make you forget your home and make you want to stay forever. Most of the times, when I am at a vacation destination, I get attached and don’t want to leave as the end of the trip looms close by. I need to be reminded that I have things to do once I return, and there are people that are waiting for me back at
