1. Mercer was being followed by Mae, the Circle followers, the drones and SeeChange cameras, and Mercer was really upset that Mae didn’t respect his decision to opt out. I think he didn’t intend to commit suicide until he saw that Mae was not going to stop chasing him. Mae’s intentions were not to destroy Mercer, but to try to persuade him to join the Circle, and she did it in a cruel and intimidated manner that drove Mercer to his own death, for example when in The Circle Dave Eggers writes, “What she wanted him to say was, ‘Okay, you got me. I surrender. You win (463). But also Mae had the opportunity to stop Mercer’s pursuit, but she continued because she wanted to please Bailey and make her point. Mercer ask her many times to respect his opinion about transparency but it seem that she was determined to turn him around from his beliefs in privacy.

People should have the right to opt out from anything including things that are mandatory, and that by doing so does not necessary affect other people other than themselves. For example, heath insurance and vaccines some people believe in alternative medicine, for example, herbal medicine, the power or food for healing and many others alternatives to conventional medicine. Some people would rather consume natural medicine because sometimes is familiar to them and is also more affordable. Another example is vaccines; some people believe they do more bad than good and that there is a possibility that they might cause other health issues in the future. People should have the right to decide the method they use to cure their body and they should also have the right to decide for their kids. In conclusion, just because the government mandates something, it doesn’t mean is for the wellbeing of people. Sometimes is for its own good and
