Our families are the core root of our identities. In “The Circuit” by Francisco Jimenez, is a reflective story of a little immigrant boy's journey (experience) to America along with his family. Throughout the story, Francisco learned the valuable lessons that families instills within an individual; for example, self-respect and hard work . Though the author might’ve not recognized those developments, as a reader, through the craftiness of the critical lens of structuralism, we can see the characterization of the changes within Jimenez’ personality.
