The Civil War is the central event in America's history. Civil war lasted almost 5 years from 1861-1865. The war determined what kind of nation U.S would be. Whether we would be a confederation or sovereign to sum it up if we could own slaves or not. Throughout these battles between the south states and the north states.

Northern victory in the war preserved the U.S as one nation. They also ended the institution of slavery that had divided the county from its beginning. These achievements came at a huge cost, of american lives. 625,000 lives were taken almost every U.S soldier at the time. The north and south states would go through countless battles over the situation.
