A Stolen Life

Left Scene-
In this scene, Jaycee Dugard is walking along the left side of the road. Her step dad told her she should walk on the side facing oncoming traffic so she could she cars coming. He wanted her to do that so she would be safer. That didn’t help. It made it easier for someone driving nearest to her to pick her up. That’s exactly what happened. Phillip Garrido and his wife, Nancy, were driving one day and decided they would like to pick up a random girl. I know it sounds crazy to think that someone would think of that, but it happened. Jaycee was walking to school one day when a car pulled over and the man asked her for directions. In no time Jaycee spotted a black shiny item in the man’s hand. Instantly she felt dizzy, and didn’t know what was going on, she tried to crawl into the bushes beside her, but that didn’t change a thing. Phillip and Nancy got out of the car quickly and pulled Jaycee into the car. In the story, Jaycee explains how she couldn’t breathe. She was wrapped up in a blanket. Even though she was being kidnapped, she was focused on how she had urinated on herself. Jaycee was so embarrassed. She wasn’t even paying attention to what had just happened to her. She didn’t even realize what happened to her until later, because she was only eleven years old. Her mom had never talked to her about the possibility of that ever happening.

Right Scene-
In this scene, Jaycee and her two daughters, A and G, were cooped up in a little room which Phillip had called the “studio”. It was called the studio because it used to be a recording studio.
