As the feudal system collapsed in China, two main ideologies were flourishing, Taoism and Confucianism. The founders of both were philosopher, poet, teacher and spiritual leader of their time. During their life time, their influential circle was limited. As the feudal system was going through the cycle of ups and downs to its fall, the teachings of Lao Tzu and Confucius were gaining popularity. The difference between the two philosophers is addition of divine teachings by Lao Tzu. From this perspective, Taoism can be taken as a full fledge religion and Confucianism as teaching based on sociopolitical and ethical system given by Confucius.
