Homelessness has been a problem in America, for quite some time. It has actually been documented in America since 1640 (Fischer, 2011). According to the article “The History of Homelessness in America 1640s to present”, homelessness was seen as a moral deficiency or character flaw. It was believed that a good christian would have all their needs met under god's grace. In Addition, If someone was homeless in the 1600s they would have to prove their worth to a community father or they would have to keep moving to the next villages/town. All of this information shows that homelessness has been a complex problem for a very long time and many homeless people have asked for help, and get ignored.
