In the “Kindred” by Octavia Butler, the concept of race is discussed through out the book whether it’s refereeing to the color of Dana’s skin, talking about her ancestral ties or the white privileged individuals is prominent topic of the book. Butler brings forth a view of racism in the eighteen hundreds and how African American were treated at the time through, beating, rapes and violent torture due to slavery at the time. Rufus the young privileged white showcases many attributes as to where his white skin privileges him over those who are colored.
