During the time period of late 1400’s and early 1500’s there were many nations that desired expansion in order to maintain and grow their power. Among these nations was Spain; According to the documentary film “The Conquerors - Cortez“ Hernan Cortez was a conquistador that was in charge of the expedition in Tenochtitlan (Modern day Mexico). Cortez was sure to show off his weapons to the indigenous people of the land. Simply Cortez was more experienced in conquest and had more advanced equipment that not only surpassed the natives but such weaponry would also cause a psychological war as well because they did not know such weapons existed. Cortez would continue to show great strategic moves throughout his conquest of Tenochtitlan by allying with many of the neighboring cities to ultimately take out the leader of Tenochtitlan being Monctezuma. …show more content…
In the speeches between Monctezuma and Cortez there is a psychological war going on between these two because they are sharing and discussing and at the end of the whole discussion Cortez tells Moctezuma that they are allies and that there is nothing he should worry about. The second point reviewed in this article is the massacre at the main temple; during that selection Cortez is addressed as “The Sun”. Cortez is on the coast while the Aztecs are conducting their regular celebrations to their gods while without warning Cortez’s men began to slaughter all of these individuals even though they were not armed.
