In love, there are many difficulties that lead to problems in a relationship. A Midsummer night's dream by William Shakespeare is about two couples, Lysander, Hermia, Helena and Demetrius. A key idea is that "the course of true love never did run smooth". The following paragraphs will be about Lysander and Hermia running away, Helena following Demetrius into the forest, and last of all the love spell. The first time we meet Lysander and Hermia, we realise that love causes difficulties when Hermia is forced to marry Demetrius rather than her true lover Lysander. An example of this is when Hermia and Lysander runs away in order to be together and no longer be a part of the Athens society and live a happy life. Either to die the death or to abjure forever the society of men. This quotation links to the idea that ‘the course of true love never did run smooth’’ because it shows us how Hermia is given two choices either to die her death or to disclaim the society of men. This is shown when Helena follows Demitrius into the forest . and begs him to stay inlove with her. This also shows us that love isn’t always easy because sometimes the person we love doesn’t always love us back because of someone elses inteferance.
