On November of 1692, the village of Salem encountered its first smirched incident. It all began after Thomas Anderson, one of the most influential leaders in Salem, offered Jack Sutton to preach in the Village church. Thomas and Jack trucked they quickly compacted that Jack Sutton would now preach at the local church. He moved to Salem village with his goody wife Betsy and his daughter Sara. The family was titillated to start a new life in the village and was quickly covenanted. The Salem that became the new home of Sutton was in the midst of change and was becoming a anarchy. The ercantile elite was beginning to develop and prominent people were becoming less willing to assume positions as town leaders. Despite these events, Sara found a faction of young girls who seemed to interest her. However the girls were notorious for their prodigious and canny actions. Unlike Sara the girls were licentious and hypocrites. Sometime during December of the exceptionally cold winter of 1692, one of the girls named Ana Potter suddenly became ail and was in a sniveling matter, Ana was speaking gibberish She dashed about, dove under furniture, contorted in pain, and complained of fever. Her family became befuddled and did not fathom with her sudden sickness, many of the symptoms or convulsive ergotism seem to match those attributed to Ana, but there is no way of knowing with any certainty if she in fact suffered from a disease and the theory would not explain the afflictions suffered by others in Salem later in the year. Suspicion of demonic actions increased when other playmates of Ana, including 13 year old Betty, eleven year old Marry Lewis and 17 year old Ann began to exhibit similar behaviors unusual behavior. When his own nostrums failed to effect a cure, William Griggs, a deference doctor called to examine the girls, suggested that the girls' problems might have a supernatural
