The Crucible By Winona Rider: Character Analysis

After reading Winona Rider’s assessment of how she sees Abigail Williams as the villain of the Crucible; I agree with her on a few of her points but not all of them. Rider says that she thinks Abigail had convinced herself of her own lie and that she had gone insane after keeping up the lies throughout the entire story. Although I do agree that she had convinced herself of all the lies of witchcraft that she was spreading to be true, I do not believe that Abigail was completely insane but caught up in a confusion of her own efforts to achieve the love and attention of John Procter.
