Paragraph 1: What is a Character Based Assessment? A Character Based Assessment gives us, the students, a deeper point of view of the character. We used our knowledge about the book we read, the “Crucible” by Arthur Miller. We had close reading we did almost everyday to help us really understand the characters. Why did Ms.Thayer ask me to participate in a CBA? First things first the CBA was very fun, I really thought it was fascinating. It’s different because from a regular assignment you would have to just write your point of view without disscussing about it. Regular assignments are long and boring and independent. When we did the CBA, the whole class was contributing to the discussions about the “Crucible”. Ms.Thayer made us assigned all of us a character from the book and we had to act like them. That made it very fun because we never got to do that. It is way more different than taking a test because when taking a test you’re really just by yourself with no support. The CBA wasn’t even like that we got to listen to our classmates who had the same characters as us which made it better for us to not feel like we have no support and feel overwhelmed.

I honestly did not know a single thing about Abigial Williams besides the fact that she had an affair with John Proctor. If I was to take a test I would fail 1000%. After doing the CBA I understood way more. I’m not satisfied with my preformance because if I had more time to prepare I would have gotten a higher grade. Instead I got a 65%. I feel that I couldv’e done better and gotten at least an 80. For next time I plan spend more time preparing and practicing my
