Why did Puritans think the were so perfect? In Salem, Massachusetts, 1692-1693, if you didn’t fit the expectations of Puritans, they would be accused of witchcraft and if they were found guilty or refused to say the were guilty, they were put to death (Doc B). Puritans were this “perfect society” who though having fun was a sin. If you had fun, you must’ve been a witch and you needed to die and since they came up with this idea, they thought they were a “perfect society” and they started the Salem Witch Trials to get rid of unwanted people.
The 9 Years’ War was he 1 Global War. This was consisted of many types of war like French and Indian Wars, King Philip’s War, and King Louis’ War. These wars caused people to move to the Americas and the Puritans were trying to protect their land so the Salem Witch Trials was to try to scare them away but it didn’t work.

Ann Putnam was an accuser during the Salem Witch Trials (Doc C). We can assume Ann Putnam lived on the West side because she was an accuser but we don’t know where she lived for sure (Docs C and F). Abigail Williams was most likely on the east side because she was accused of being a witch and she set her house on fire because she was angry and upset (Doc A).
Puritans thought they were a “perfect society” and having fun was a sin so if you had fun, you deserved to die. But, in reality, there is no such thing as a “perfect society” and they’re all just fantasies. To Puritans, Salem was the City Upon A Hill. Overall though, it all just came down to puritans starting the Salem Witch Trials as a way of protecting their homes from outsiders. While trying to protect their city though, they just made it worse and they took it way too far turning it into a mass murder of “witches”. They probably even just called them “witches” so they wouldn’t feel as bad killing
