The Cha-Cha

The Cha-Cha dance originated in Cuba in the early 1950s. it was made by Cuban composer Enrique Jorrin who was a violinist in the Orquesta America. Orquesta America is a Cuban charange orchestra founded in Havana in 1942 by singer Ninon Mondejar. The prominent members were Alex Sosa who played the piano; Enrique Jorrin, Antonio Sanchez and Felix Guerra who played the violins and Luan Ramos who played the flute. They performed at various dance halls in Cuba where they played Danzon, Danzonete and danzon-mambo for dance orientated crowds. The Cha-Cha is typically danced to authentic Cuban music, but sometimes to Latin Pop or Latin Rock. The western two step The two step is the culmination of a variety of dances. it was created in the 1940’s from the foxtrot and the one step. Movies like “urban cowboy” starring John Travolta popularizede the dance in the 1970’s. when the two-step got popular in Texas, the dancers didn’t do rotational patterns like how they do today. Today the two step is known as a traveling dance that combines a few complex patterns with lots of turning. Two step dancing is automatically associated with Texas, and different versions of the two step are danced in Texas bars. The most common version of the dance is a quick, quick, slow, slow pattern.
The jitterbug The jitterbug is a dance that grew popular in America in the early twentieth century. Various dances were referred to as the jitterbug; such as the lindy hop, jive, the big apple, west coast swing, the whip, and the push. These swing dance styles originated two decades earlier in African American dance clubs in and around Harlem, New
