The idea of the truth is central to Christopher and his narration, in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon. One of the points that represents this, is that Christopher wants to know who killed Wellington.After Christopher left the police station(page 20), he begins to do detective work on Wellington.However, his dad tells him not to. On page 28,Christopherstates, “I decided that I was going to find out who killed Wellington, even though father told me not to.”.When Christopher is doing detective work he is searching for the truth.As Christopher searches for the truth, his dad tries to stop him from doing his detective work. He finds the truth by asking Mrs.Alexander and by opening letters from his mom. On page 60, Mrs.Alexander says,”I mean they were very good friends.”(this is talking about the relationship between Mr.Shears and Christopher’s mom).In addition, on page 104,Christopher states,”I counted the letters there were 43...I took one out and opened it.”.Christopher moves away from his detective work about Wellington because he talks to his dad about how Mr.Shears is his prime suspect, but his dad tells him never to say that name again.Therefore, Christopher becomes curious and then asks Mrs.Alexander about him and he finds out that Mr.Shears is a very good friend with Christopher’s mom. Since Christopher wants to know the truth about his mom, he finds out that his mom is in London and that Mr.Shears has a relationship with his mom.These events lead to the story’s falling action and conclusion.
