Anorexia Disorder
About 14 million women in the United States are battling with the disease Anorexia. Anorexia is Millions of Americans suffer from anorexia. Anorexia is a disease that makes people have and obsession on starvation. In today’s society, most women try to live up to the ideal version of being “perfect” with our physical appearances more than anything. Food and weight related issues, and extreme weight loss are three unfortunate factors the fall through with anorexia. Although this eating disorder are more common now in young-teenage women; anyone can suffer from it. If being left untreated for too long while having this disorder, this disease can be very deadly. The DSM-5 Criteria for anorexia disorder focuses more on behaviors. “The DSM-IV Criterion D requiring amenorrhea, or the absence of at least three menstrual cycles, will be deleted. Many famous people who have from eating disorders, like Anorexia. Usually, most celebrities would want to hide or cover their stories with recovery due to embarrassment. Their stories show people who go through and have anorexia or any eating disorder, hope for people who want to recover and are struggling from the disorder. For example, Nicole Richie. “Petite 5ft 1in 32-year-old could be down to as little as 85lbs and consuming only around 600 calories per day. A normal person usually consumes around 2000 calories a day so this number is really too small. Nicole Richie lost so much weight she is barely recognizable anymore.” (Alicia Hunter, 2012) Many other celebrities’ have gone through the same experience, such as: Jane Fonda, Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate Olsen
