Auschwitz was a death/work camp where many Jews were sent, also there was Poles and French people sent there as well. A lot of people died there, in fact it was one of the biggest death camps during the Holocaust. People in the concentration camp Auschwitz were dehumanized in many ways. There are three reasons that stand above all the rest.

They were deprived of their belongings and family/friends.
All their gold was taken from them by the nazis and they never got them after the Holocaust. Their family was separated and most of the time they never saw each other again. Their friends were taken to different camps and were forced to never see each other again. They were deprived of everything.
