Imagine making a deal to get anything you want, but you must get rid of something important to you. In, The Devil and Tom Walker, there is a man name Tom Walker who is really poor and lives in Boston, one day while he was walking through a swamp he saw a black figure which was a devil, name Old Scratch, Old Scratch offered Tom a deal which was a buried treasure that he can have, but must give his soul to him. Tom declines the deal because he wanted to hurt his wife feeling since they fight so much. Later the wife goes through the swamp, with Tom valuables, to find the devil and offer her the gold instead of Tom. When Tom goes to the swamp to find his wife, he sees a tree with his wife apron hang on it with her liver and heart in it.

However, after his wife urges him to do it, he hurt her by refusing. Therefore, Tom wife goes into the woods herself to make a deal and doesn't return. With his wife gone, Tom revisits the devil’s to accept the deal now that his wife is gone.

After accepting the Devils deals, Tom finds out where the treasure located at, and he becomes a very wealthy man. After years pass, Tom starts to get scared about the Devil taking his soul, so Tom carried a bible with him, everywhere he went. After Tom puts the bible down Tom got three hard knocks on the door, so Tom went to answer it and when he open the door the devil was there on a horse ready to take his soul.

They say, still on this day, you can see Tom Walker ghost in the usurer, all side and depressed from the devil taking his soul. When Tom went missing, people went to his home to take the money he owned, but when they got their the money seem to disappear out of nowhere.

When I read this book, it gave me major chills because it was just so real and scary when reading it, it was one of the best horror books I ever read. I would for sure let other readers to read this book because they would love
