They both focus on remembering. They show that we have to remember the past so it doesn’t repeat itself. The whole purpose of Hannah going back to live in the concentration camp was that so she would realize how big of a deal it was and why she has to remember. Before, she was snotty and didn’t care about the past because it didn’t affect her. It already happened! But she got sent back, and when she came back she was humbled and she appreciated how much Aunt Eva went through. Another thing that was the same was the suffering. In both the movie and the book, so many people suffered. The people who were shot, hung, and gassed, they all suffered. They had hardly anything to eat and they had to work with no breaks and if they did, they might have gotten shot. Everyone in the camps suffered. Lastly, one of the major similarities, Hannah took Rivka’s place both times. Hannah knew that Rivka had to live because she was going to be an aunt someday to the actual Hannah. She didn’t care that she was dying, she cared about Rivka
