I read a book called Color Me Dark The Diary of Nelly Lee Love, The Great Migration North. This story took place in Chicago,ILLInois, 1919. This book is about a girl, Nellie, who from 1919 records her thoughts and experiences in a diary including her home in rural Tennessee, as a part of The Great Migration, and her new home in Chicago. Nellie is an African American an 11 years old. Some of the major events was the racism between the white people which caused her family to move to Chicago in search for a better life. Her family and her are the Main characters in this book.
