The story, “ The Drummer Boy of Shiloh” there are many symbols that can relate too today's life and children of this generation. Firstly, in this story it contains people that are or around our age. I believe that in the story “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh” the symbols the author, Ray Bradbury's trying to get across are the peach blossom, the drum, and the General.
First, the first symbol the author it trying to show us is the peach blossom. The peach blossom shows youth. The peach blossom shows youth because when the peach blossom blooms it shows the start of a new life. The peach blossom might also show spring time starting. The peach blossom might show Spring time because that is when everything comes back to life and starts over. Finally, the peach blossom also shows a new life. The peach blossom shows a new life because when the old and dead peach blossoms fall off the tree new ones start to bloom and grow showing a new life has started on the tree. All in all, the peach blossom shows youth and shows a new life starting.

The drum is the heartbeat of the army. Without the drum no one would know what to do or hear the general give out commands. The drum also shows when hope is lost and given. The drum shows when hope is lost and given because when Joby was laying down on the ground and the peach blossom hit the drum and Joby turns it over shows the loss of hope. The drum also shows the beat of life and how you keep going on with life no matter what. The drum keeps the beat of the soldiers and without the drummer the army wouldn't know what to do.
