Native Americans stories are rich with meanings. like other cultures, Native Americans made sense of their world through telling stories. Random events like natural disasters, that could be explained by a Great Spirit, and how he was displeased by the actions of men. In Native American stories they reflect many specific themes such as, determination, hard work,and helping others.
First off, in “The Earth on Turtle's Back”, the theme of this story is determination. For example, in the story “Earth on Turtle's Back”, the muskrat said, “I will bring up earth or die trying”. This quote explains to me, that the muskrat was determined to bring up earth even if he would have to die to get it. Also, in “The Earth on Turtle’s Back” the narrator said,
