“People’s words and actions affect you only as much as you let them.” There are many ways a person’s actions affect another person. It may not be noticeable, but what a person does can affect many people such as immediate family, far off relatives, friends, co-worker, strangers, or people you haven’t ever met in your entire life. 9/11 and The Fault in Our Stars are two great examples of how a person’s actions could affect others.

9/11 is a great example for how people’s actions affect others. Osama Bin Laden, supposedly said to be the mastermind behind 9/11, had executed an attack. Two passenger planes, one with 92 people onboard and the other one with 63 people onboard, crashed into the twin towers in New York. Another passenger plane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and another passenger plane crashed into an open field in Pennsylvania. 2,996 people were said to have died in total. Thousands of people lost their families in this deadly attack.

In the movie and book The Fault in Our Stars, Augustus had used his death wish to take Hazel to Amsterdam to meet her favourite author. Hazel and Gus did not get the treatment they expected but, despite that, they both enjoyed each other's company. They both were happy and Gus did not regret using his death wish for Hazel. This action had a positive outcome, unlike 9/11.
