Gentrification had many effects on Regent Parks social housing and negatively shifted the demographics to established residents. The plan was profit-driven and envisioned a mixed-income housing community. The project removed much of the subsidized housing and built urban housing and condominiums to drive in wealthy individuals (Davis, 2009).
By bringing in more affluent people into the area, it was their attempt to rectify social problems that were present (Davis, 2009). I recognized that rather than promote inclusion and eradicate social problems it intensified feelings of oppression caused by profound social division. In my opinion, the film showed how problematic it was to disperse the poor as it made more apparent the social problems
